SHARE My story: As promised I am here to share with all of you a personal story of why the efforts to stop domestic violence have become so important to me. On this day last year I received a phone call from Nashville TN police providing me news about my mother, Beth Straub, which devastated my family and me. The relationship of Beth and Jesse, her boyfriend, like many started off as a normal couple who dated and then eventually moved in together. Jesse became violent and he chose to take his anger out on Beth. Like many domestic violence victims, Beth left only subtle clues about this abuse, and so the abuse continued. Beth had been a victim of domestic violence when I was a child and was beaten, so this violence was not new to her. Like many victims, Beth did not know how to escape this violent relationship. 23 October 2014 was the last time anyone saw Beth alive. In her memory I want to disclose this tragic story with the hope you all will share this story and spread awareness about the terrible crime of domestic violence. The following details are too difficult to put into words and thus I will provide the narration from the local news agency and videos in the attached link. Please like and share to help spread the awareness. NASHVILLE, Tenn. - SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) – When police entered the home November 4, 2013 they found Meeces body, they also saw evidence of construction in the basement, including what they described as a makeshift wall that appeared to have been recently installed. Behind the wall, police found a 96-gallon trash can with a womans body inside. The trash can was connected by a PVC pipe running to the houses sewer system, and the trash cans lid had been sealed with plexiglass and foam sealant. Police said it appears the woman had been dead for several days. As part of the investigation, they found a receipt dated Oct. 27 for the sealant and 100 pounds of livestock stall deodorizer in the home. Chace is one of Straub’s two sons. Neighbors say Meece and her lived in a Koger Avenue house in Somerset for several months but were quiet and kept to themselves. The Pulaski County Sheriff says he never received a domestic complaint from them. Meece was born and raised in Somerset. WKYT was told her worked for many years at Modern Distributers which goes by Team Modern now before he and his girlfriend moved to Nashville about a year ago. Nashville Metro Police say Straub was found days after they were called to make a welfare check on the woman, when she hadn’t reported to work for several days. Meece told police they’d had a fight and she left. But then when he didn’t show up for work…police made the gruesome discovery. She was found dead in the sealed up can…and he was found on a nearby couch with the self-inflicted gunshot wound. “We are shocked and we are devastated. We don’t know how to react right now. Just still trying to process what happened,” said Larry Meece, Jesse’s brother. -Through these painful tears of grief, your beautiful memory will live on – Chace- *Like and SHARE to spread awareness*
