Shell says £55million will be paid to Bodo community of fishermen in the Niger Delta following two regrettable spills in 2008. The Lawyers representing about 15,600 claimants said they are set to receive more than N500k each. The Lawyers say the deal is the first of its kind. The law firm , Leigh Day said: It is disappointing that Shell took six years to take this matter seriously. The Lawyers are optimistic that this should act as a template in future cases.
