SHOULD RELIGIOUS LEADERS GAIN MATERIAL BENEFITS FROM PREACHING THE GOOD NEWS? 1 Corinthians 9:13: Dont you realize that those who work in the temple get their meals from the offerings brought in the temple? And those who serve at the altar get a share of sacrificial offerings. In the same way, the lord ordered that those who preach the good news should be supported by those who benefit from it, ★Having already condemned money and wealth, there is one thing you have to understand; there is a huge difference between Money and wealth. If you pray for money to buy food, youre not praying for money, you are praying for food. But when you pray for money to buy a car, thats when you sin because you will be praying for wealth. ★Likewise, those who preach the good news should only benefit with basic needs and general necessities. On the other hand, they should not benefit with Luxuries. ★Basic needs are those things that we cannot do without; like food water and clothing. General necessities are those things we can do without but conditions do not allow us not to do without them; like soap, shoes, phone etc. Luxuries are those things that we can do without though at times they make our lives easier; like car, swimming pool etc. Wealth falls under this category. ★And yes, the bible states very clearly that those who work from God should also have a part in his offertory. Yes, they should also benefit with material things. ★On the other hand, there are a lot of people taking advantage of this teaching; using churches as businesses or business centers. But it’s not up to us to Judge those who take advantage of men for the word of God. They will meet their Judgment. The Bible states very clearly that the teachers of the church will be judged more strictly. James 3:1: Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.
