SHUTTLE DAY – with a difference Sunday 5h October - 9am to 4pm All money from this shuttle day will go to Ben Davies who is battling cancer. Ben is a great mate of many in the club and a popular character amongst the MTB community. Here is what Ben’s partner Mel has asked us to share about Ben’s condition: “Ben has Medullary thyroid cancer. Ben has had 2 surgeries and had a total of 100 lymph nodes and half his thyroid removed. After the second surgery we were told it had spread to the shoulder area and the cancer had changed and become more aggressive then they thought and said they can no longer cure Ben as this type of cancer is aggressive and does not respond to chemo. New scans have shown that it’s spread to his glands and chest area. They want Ben to do a clinical trial however we do not want to do it. Ben is looking at natural treatments with a Russian doctor who is having some success curing cancer. If results don’t improve Ben and I will move to Germany to try a immune therapy treatment which will cost around $80,000” The shuttle day is the same deal as always. $35 of club members, $40 non club members (plus $5 day permit if not a MTBA member) BBQ Lunch and cold drinks included Shuttles to the top of the hill all day You must email the club to book in and you will get a confirmation email back [email protected] This is just a small gesture from the club to assist Ben and Mel fighting this terrible disease.
