SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM MACON COUNTY SHERIFF: As some NCDOT trucks - TopicsExpress

SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM MACON COUNTY SHERIFF: As some NCDOT trucks have left western North Carolina to head east, road conditions are not looking to improve anytime soon. Here is a special message from Macon County Sheriff Robbie Holland: Citizens should consider the area roadways of Macon County under hazardous conditions. Secondary roads are in the process today of being cleared by Dept. Of Transportation. Drivers should remain cautious. ANY portions of the roadways that appear to be wet today will be a solid sheet of ice tonight. It is my recommendation that unless its an emergency tonight, stay off the roadways. If an emergency does arrive, do not hesitate to call 911 for assistance. All emergency services in Macon County are prepared to respond. The only concern we have is the fact that because of the hazardous conditions, responses may be somewhat slower than usual. One thing is certain, the men and women who will be working are out there prepared to come to your aide as quickly and safely as possible. As the Sheriff of Macon County I thank each and every one of them, as well as each agency they represent. The sacrifices they make & their commitment to serving our community does not go unnoticed.
