Why like this Flying area, GPRS/EDGE/3G connection, safety and why we need to have SPOT for next competitions in Nepal. It was hard to be sure in this idea for 100%, but YES, its new rule: Every foreign competition pilot must to have SPOT to participate in RrePWC Nepal 2015. And its strong recommendation to Nepali pilots to use SPOT also. Why? Because if well not grow up with competitions level, step by step every year, we will loose quality. Quality cant stay on same level, it can only go up or down. Quality roots are: interesting tasks and safety. Because every of pilots tell to organizers in past: it was nice, but we want to have new destinations and new tasks We want it also, but it is difficult to organize rescue service in huge area, and some times it is impossible to organize it, if we dont know where to search. Because last year we had experience of searching pilot just in Green Wall down part, which took 3+ hours, since help request to contact. Because we want to fly around much hugest area next year with not too easy to find pilot with problems terrain and jungles. Thats why we need to know where is every pilot in every moment. But, why not to use any GPS tracker based on cell data service? Unfortunately, some times cell data service not working already just under takeoff. Cellular data coverage in Nepal is very poor, and if you lend, for example, near Korchun, some times you need to go to Halanchok village to get any connection. About 90% of risky parts of our task are not covered by cellular data service. It means, that if someone has a real problem, he has just 1 to 10 chances that rescue service guys would know exactly where to search him, even he has any Cell Data based tracker: special one, android device based or FlyMaster live. All of it are nice instruments, beautiful for developed cell data networks. But here in Nepal its like compromise between safety and our lazy to have SPOT Spot costs too much! Now on eBay price for brand new begins from $70, basic service starts from $5/month Its less than 5% of money what pilot need to spend to come here and join to competition, and also less than tandem pilots has per day here. Helmet and reserve parachute also cost too much In FAI rules there is nothing about SPOT. Yes, it is. For this we have local rules. Ps: what Im going to do soon: to register my spot. I have it, but never used before, because nobody pushed me. Now I pushed my self))
