SSVCF recently connected the Quakes to Stop Hunger Now executives in a conference call. The result was that SHN will be given a tour of the new stadium to see if some sort of future collaboration between the two parties would make sense. It is obviously too soon to know if any joint activities are possible, but Merryl and I were invited to observe a recent SHN meal-packaging event at Cisco. Ten tables with 20 Cisco volunteers at each table competed with each other to see which group could package the most meals in the space of an hour or two. An assembly line was set up where some people at the table measured out and poured grains or protein into bags, others added other parts of the packaged meal to the box. By the time the box reached the end of the table it contained many meals and was taped up, ready for shipping. I can envision tables at Avaya stadium set up with a Quakes player captaining a table or two full of EQ fans packaging meals, competing with other Quakes captains to see who can produce the most meals. Do you think something like that would attract fan volunteers? Who knows, maybe there is Guiness Book of World Records to break here. :^) - Ned
