STOP TTIP: STOP WATER PRIVATISATION Right now, there’s a secret trade deal being worked out between the US and the EU. For Ireland, it means that our water could be privatised and GMO foods and fracking could be allowed. If TTIP goes ahead big corporations could be free to take our government to court, in secret. Across Europe, people, just like us are taking a stand against TTIP. Already over a million signatures have been collected as part of the European-wide petition organised by STOP TTIP. The pressure against TTIP is building and European politicians are worried! Ireland needs 8,250 people to sign the petition so that we can reach our country target and make it harder to ignore the call to cancel TTIP negotiations. We are over 70% of the way there already. Can you help us reach our target by the end of the year? TTIP is little more than a corporate power grab. Multinational company Veolia, who are are installing water meters across Ireland, recently took the Egyptian government to a ‘secret court’ for introducing a national minimum wage. If TTIP goes ahead Veolia would be able to take our government to court for something similar ie for interfering with their profits. Uplift is a member of the STOP TTIP group.
