SWB has lost one of our loyal customers who encouraged our friends and riders when they felt they couldnt ride. He shared his vast knowledge of many things from cycling, single speeds, saddles, mechanical engineering and design. He cleaned up the bike frames for customers who wanted to build single speed bikes And would machine custom parts. George was one of the first volunteers for the American Diabetes Associations Tour de Cure and spent many hours volunteering to make that event a success. Some of you may have had the pleasure to ride with him at that event or on our club rides. When we established our cycling club, George was the first to sign up! He was always the first to volunteer for the Breast Cancer Ride too. Our hearts hurt for the loss. He was a man of integrity and honor and served our county in Viet Nam where he was severely injured by a round in his chest. His motto was that every day was a good day. The ONLY bad day he had only had was the day he got shot. George was one tough man and had a heart of gold. Bada Bing! The SWBCC is hosting a club ride in Georges memory on Saturday Sept 13. They will have ride options for just about every level of cyclist. Check out the club site calendar at swbcc.org for more information. Ride details will be posted soon. The club is also printing some T-shirts in Georges memory. You can order these at customink/signup/9xvbm42w BEFORE SUNDAY. AUG 31. $20 ea (payable at time you receive the shirt). Proceeds will be donated to the animal shelter from which he adopted his dogs.
