Salute to Larry Marshall! Mr. Marshall was born in St. Anns, Jamaica. Thus, he shares birthplace with Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Jackie Mittoo, Justin Hinds and a long list of great musicians. Along with his singing partner Alvin Leslie, they recorded the monster hit Nanny Goat in 1968 for Studio One. Today, reggae historians globally have come to regard the song as one of the definitive tunes that began the divine shift from rocksteady to reggae. Additionally, Larrys Dub version or B-side of his singleI Admire You which he self produced in 1975; was one of the very first tunes to be credited to the innovative and creative genius King Tubby whose Birth I definitely consider one of the most important of the 20th century for his contribution to contemporary dance music.
