Samuel L Jackson is spot on. When its about the ice bucket - TopicsExpress

Samuel L Jackson is spot on. When its about the ice bucket challenge, were all about it. But police brutality? Oh, too controversial. Institutionalized racism? Better not post about that. I see the same few people come out and talk about it, be it on fb or in real life, when I know so many more have something to say. If you have a platform, SPEAK OUT. Its easy to talk about these issues with like-minded people, and yes, those discussions are great and important. But the real challenge is having the discussions with those who dont see the situation for what it is. Avoiding a conversation because it might get awkward or because it doesnt matter, theyre not gonna change their opinion anyway. These arent excuses. Your opinion, your stance, it means something. As the nation-wide protests have shown, its the strength in numbers that carries the movement forward. Im gonna go ahead and nominate a few people to do this (see https://youtube/watch?v=TT9bumC4EGc). Justin, Jonathan, João, Watashi, Alison, Robert, Josie. After you do it, nominate some people of your own. If you read this and it strikes a chord with you, consider yourself nominated as well. Doesnt matter if we rarely talk or are just distant fb acquaintances. Sing! Sam Jackson calls on celebrities, but since the ice bucket challenge was taken on by everyone and anyone, this should too. If I can do it looking like this in penguin pajamas, you shouldnt have a problem. If you’re shy, grab a friend (or friends, get a group! strength in numbers!) and sing together. The lyrics are: I can hear my neighbor crying, I cant breathe. Now Im in the struggle and I cant leave. Calling out the violence of the racist police. We aint gonna stop, till people are free. We aint gonna stop, till people are free. #weaintgonnastop
