Santa was running a little late, but a Christmas request was answered as towns in Western QLD see their best Rain in up to 24 months. Storms and Rain periods have resulted in some of the best falls for towns in years, and not just over a small area.... towns 100s of kms apart have observed this. • Cloncurry has recorded an impressive 61mm, this is incredibly their highest daily total since January 28th, 2012 (196.4mm) • Oondooroo (just North of Winton) has recorded 51mm • Wahroongha (between Longreach & Windorah) 32mm • Thargomindah 30mm • Roseberth Station (Near Birdsville) 29mm • Hughenden 28mm • Winton 28mm • Mount Isa 25mm • Birdsville 20mm - Highest daily total since March 7th, 2013 (23.2mm) • Camooweal 20mm Showers and Storms are expected to continue over the West and Interior today, hopefully resulting in some more good totals. Cloncurry is already up to 85mm this month, it would be perfect if the town can see 100mm within the first week of the New Year. If anyone has photos from out West, we would love to see them! ~ SEND ER DOWN HUEY ~ Image 1: Meg Masons house at Christmas in Birdsville - photo by Franziska Pressier Image 2: Live Radar via Weatherzone ~Thomas~
