Saturday, 5 July 2014: Words of the day are... 威 武 眼 神 把 勢 吞 Sounds like, 威 Wai 武 Mo 眼 Ngahn 神 Sun 把 Bah 勢 Sai 吞 Tuhn. Means, Powerful Martial Spirited-Eyes Subdue, Emasculate and Swallow (its opponent and his or her might to fight). This maxim is about developing beyond the physical and the verbal to develop ones spirit. The Chinese believe that the spirit is projected through the eyes and through its visual steeliness especially before and during combat. Developing ones mind, body and spirit as a unified system is the universal goal among all martial artists no matter what the discipline. Often the battle is won before any move is made because the spirit determines ones calm. Being calm keeps us relaxed. Relaxation supports our recognition. Recognition determines our response(s). -梅 玉 Moy Yuk
