Saturday What goes around comes around!-Unknown In your life, rather than expecting people to do something for you, ask yourself what you can do for them instead? Caring serves a functional purpose to help us connect to other people, but caring also keeps us healthy and alive as individuals. In your professional life, rather than expecting your employer to do something for you, ask yourself what you can do for your employer. People who have this type of attitude usually end up being promoted and recognized. Quite often you will double your favorable outcome in all areas of life by asking yourself what you can do for others. You will find doing for others often comes back to you. There is an old saying that summarizes this thought, What you give you get. The rule of balance is that the amount of good one thing can do is directly proportionate in the amount of harm it can cause potentially. Generally, we care about all kinds of things and even those who feel they dont care, or shouldnt care, still do care about something. *It’s vital to evaluate* how empathy or caring can turn out of control. Quite often we may pour our hearts out at hearing a sad story, but also fall into frustration, despair and a wide host of emotions. It is always directly related to the amount of concern or attachment we may have towards the subject. But likewise, its important to see that caring can be used as a way to manipulate others, as it can have such an effect on others as well. There are times people open their hearts too much and find that it gets swamped, abused or manipulated. It may be out of a desire to connect or to be a good person for a host of different reasons that makes us open up too much. Sometimes we feel the pain too much and want to help others without taking into account our own wellbeing. There is nothing wrong with this in principle, but it is wise to bear in mind that to do so comes with this as a price if we are not aware or wise to what is happening. Often people look at a problem and say yes, we should care, but again leap into the same way of mishandling it and continue to make more problems for themselves. The most important rule of thumb is, dont let it go wild. The human mind can be extreme and leaps from caring too little towards caring too much and becomes hurt again and again, so many people feel like they are going in circles. Keep in mind, promising too much can be as cruel as caring too little.
