Searching for God Devotional. Acts 17:16-34. Paul tells Athens about the unknown God of Jesus Christ, in a way that the idol-filled culture could understand. He does a brillant job communicating the Gospel by using the culture of Athens. ie he points out that they have an idol to an unknown god and names that God, Jesus the Christ, he references Stoic and Epicurean thoughts, he uses their form of debate... How can we share the Gospel in a way that our consumerism culture can understand? In a culture dominanted by fast food, tv, $, sports, coffee shops... how we can share the Gospel in a langauge relavant to the majority of Americans who do not go into that idol to an unknown God that is the church? How can this group be an example? Share your ideas... Other thoughts for reflection: What idols do we need to clear off our altars? In God we live and move and have our being How have you experienced God this week? Paul constantly proclaimed Christ inspite of being in danger. When has the Holy Spirit given you the courage to share Christ inspite of your own popularity or safety? feel free to post comments on any of these questions or your own reflections...
