Seeking forgiveness , apologising or saying sorry Whenever anyone does any wrong anywhere, in every society , the culprit is expected to take responsibility, accept the blame and apologise (seek forgiveness) , even if merely say, sorry. Allah has stated in the Quran about the believers, والذين اذا فعلوا فاحشة او ظلمواانفسهم ذكروالله فاستغفروا لذنوبهم And those who when they do anything indecent or wrong themselves, (then) remember Allah and seek forgiveness... But the Sahaabah, companions of Rasoolullah sallallaho alaihe wasallam , are so special in the eyes of Allah then when they did something , they were not supposed to then Allah the Almighty, told his beloved prophet Muhammad sallallaho alaihim wasallam, ولقد عفا الله عنهم Allah has surely forgiven them.. And then commanded Rasoolullah sallallaho alaihe wasallam, فاعف عنهم واستغفرلهم وشاورهم في الامر (You also) Forgive them and (you) seek forgiveness on their behalf and continue to consult them in matters... (Surah Aale Imran chapt 3 verse 159.)
