Senior U.S. Government Officials Meet with MAS, CAIR; Pledges to Work on UAE Terrorist Designation (Washington, DC - December 22, 2014) - The Muslim American Society (MAS) announced today that representatives from the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) met with U.S. government officials over concerns about the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recent decision to add both Muslim American organizations to its list of terrorist groups. This unprecedented move by the UAE was rejected by the State Department two days after the list was revealed, a position that was reiterated at the meeting. In a joint statement, CAIR and MAS said: The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim American Society (MAS) met with senior U.S. government officials regarding the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recent inclusion of the two legally-operating organizations on a list of groups it considers to be terrorist entities.
