September 10, 1963: John Lennon and Paul McCartney watch the Rolling Stones rehearse after meeting their manager, Andrew Loog Oldham, on the street. The pair offer the band an unfinished song “I Wanna Be Your Man.” John and Paul go into a corner and finish the song in a few minutes. The Stones record it and it becomes one of the few Beatle songs that is better than the Beatles version. It becomes a hit for the Stones, peaking at #12 in the UK.
