September 20 What Is The Most Important Thing In Life? For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile, you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep (died) in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. 1 Corinthians 15:16-19 If in this life only we have Christ, then he has become nothing more than a philosopher. That would make him equal to every other philosopher. But we have a future, not only in this life, but after death as well. Philosophers speak only for this life, knowing nothing about the life to come, and the Word of God already tells us that their philosophies are foolishness. (1 Corinthians 3:19) Our lifespan here is comparatively very short. If the average lifespan is 80 years more or less, consider how short that is compared to the thousands of years before us and eternity to come. On a yardstick, our life here is the first 1/16th inch. The rest is our eternity. Where will you spend it? The most important thing in life is to find out from God himself what this life is all about, and what your personal individual, unique purpose is ...and then to invest this life for the one to come. God did not put us here and say, good luck, hope you make it, and walk away. No, he gave us HIS WORD, the Bible, to tell us who he is, who we are, and what its all about it. It reveals to us the way, the ONLY way, of salvation. His Word should be the most important thing in life to us. What could be more important? Your eternity depends on it.
