September 25, 2014 Dave Haviland KBKW News Aberdeen WA Police Department Chlorine gas made by a Jail trustee evacuated the Aberdeen City Jail yesterday. Police Captain John Green said that at about 8:21 P.M. the trustee was performing cleaning duties inside the jail. The Trustee accidently mixed a toilet cleaner into a container of bleach water. A chemical vapor resulted from the two substances being accidently mixed. The Aberdeen Fire Department was called to assist, the inmates were evacuated while fans were used to help clear out the vapor. Green said the inmates were placed under continual supervision for about 30 minutes until the jail was again suitable to place inmates inside. Two inmates were checked by AFD and found to be in good condition. One Corrections Officer and an Aberdeen Corporal were exposed to the vapor during there response to it. They were checked by AFD and found to be in good condition.
