Sermon: Matthew 8:1-4 God is Willing and Able. Jesus had a ministry that reached and touched people at all levels of society. He had a cross culture communication ministry. Dont lose your ability to relate to people. Jesus had compassion on those He reached and touched. This is shown with Him ministering to10 lepers last week and 1 leper this week. Here are three comparative notes of Jesus encounter with the lepers. 1. The lepers acknowledged Christ in their Crisis. All of them cried out to Jesus: two worshipped Him and one thanked Him but it was the same crisis that drew them to Jesus. 2. They knew the nature of God. They understood that Jesus cared and could meet their physical and spiritual problem of leprosy. 3. The dilemma of destitute is eased with compassion. They knew that when Jesus spoke, touch, and command: the leprosy would go away. Jesus acceptance of you is based on His compassion for you. Know what God accept and disapprove of in life. 3 points from the message. V1-2 1. God is Willing- know the difference between following and worshiping Jesus. Many followed Him but one came worshipping Him. Requesting mercy from Jesus. Asking for mercy is like telling God to fill in the blank of your problems. Dont play jeopardy with God. Coming to Him with all the answers and ask God to phase His answer to your problem in the form of a question. Get the point. Dont pray with your mind made up on the answer. Leprosy wasnt mentioned in the text. Just know that God wants whats best for you. Let Gods will be done in your life. God never use the Law of Double Jeopardy. God never punch us for same sin unless we commit it again and again. You can do the same with others in life. Once an issues has been dealt with: forgive and move on. I did the time for the crime: let me be free from that mistake. V3 2. The Willingness of God- Jesus reach forth and touched him and said, I Will. When Jesus touch you, you want be the same. His problem was gone. Have you ever been touched by God? Its a life-changing and altering experience. I remember that night and immediately a change came over me. V4 3. The Willingness of You- Jesus tested the willingness of healed leper. God knows that sometimes we get what we want from Him and our concept of serving God and others change. Live out your healing and salvation as public testimony. Let all see the Christ in you. Let everyone notice what God has done for you. God is asking you today...Do you know Who I am? Your answer should be...thou art the Christ (Matthew 16:13-19). Go show and tell of the great things God has done for you. Background: Leviticus 13:45 and Lev.14:10-32
