Several aircraft have been observed to the west and north of the Camp area near the Preserve side (10 miles away) where bear sport hunting is currently taking place.(yes, the Park allows Spring sport hunting (May 10-31) of bears in the Preserve portion of the Park. Sadly it is just like shooting fish in a barrel) One of these aircraft was observed to be circling something quite low or possibly attempting to herd a bear towards the hunting area or possibly someone bear viewing by aircraft, something practiced by a few unscrupulous bear viewing/hunting companies, a practice which seriously disrupts mother bears with young cubs emerging from their winter dens. It was too far away to obtain an ID on the aircraft and only observed with binoculars, Park Rangers seldom have a presence in this remote coastal area and seem more focused on building multi-million dollar footbridges in Brooks Camp than protecting the Parks coastal wildlife.
