Shana ......Last week Will Friedwald was taking a break from his job as columnist and music critic for the Wall Street Journal and I was driving him to the airport so he could jet off to London. I told him I was thinking about going to see your show and asked if he thought Id like it. He first said, “I’d see that show again in a second.” And then, his more considered thought: “Her Porter/Coward show is. . . monumental.” I waited a beat, maybe 3 or 4 beats, for the human tendency to take back a high compliment. To reduce it, to make it more commonplace, to bring sarcasm to the statement. But no, “That’s what it was.....monumental.” I can’t find any way to disagree with him. A gorgeous show.
