Shipping Minister (Transport & Roadways) Shri N J Gadkari makes his first public appearance on the occasion of Seafarers Day at Mumbai on this 25th Day of June 2014 !! In his keynote address he humbly accepted that his awareness and knowledge in Maritime Sector was very limited before he took over as Shipping Minister, but over the course of his address he promised fast track implementation of Shipping & Seafarers friendly policies including relaxation of taxes for seafarers & facilitating pension reforms for them, amendment of redundant policies, development of inland waterways & coastal shipping, encouraging FDIs and streamlining roadblocks therein...Mr. NG also expressed that there is a huge potential in this sector for capital investment and creation of employment opportunities, amongst many others. He further emphasised that he is gonna move at a very Fast pace and his secretaries and staff need to catch up with him. He wont stop or wait for them & is not interested in files moving from one desk to another (typical babu system)..we need to change with changing times... Stating that he Likes people who can get things done expeditiously and Dislikes Honest people who dont want to take a decision ....Convince me or get Convinced was his punch line.... He also echoed NaMos vision to make India poverty free and encourage E-Governance !! A very impressive address Mr NG...we hope all these promises can be turned into actionables & reality !! Wish you best luck in your endeavours !!! SK
