Shock as Kibra MP disowns Raila Odinga, urges Kibra to vote Uhuru 2017 Residents of Kibra were last night taken aback when the ODM member of parliament of Kibra the Hon Ken Okoth of openly disowned his party leader Raila Odinga when urged local residents to vote for Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017. The first time MP uttered the shocking words while making his remarks at a function presided over by Uhuru Kenyatta in the area to close the controversial NYS project in that has been on-going in the last few months and which has been opposed by most locals. Not done with praising the TNA leader, Hon Okoth’s went ahead to request to have the term of the NYS huduma corps extended by another six months since they had done a glittering job in the area. This request was promptly rejected by the head of state who sources revealed to us is using the NYS projects to market Ms Anne Waiguru, the devolution CS, as a possible gubernatorial aspirant for TNA in Nairobi come 2017. Interestingly, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who is a prominent TNA member and senior most party leader in Nairobi has deliberately kept away from all of Ms Waiguru’s NYS functions in the city. Sonko is reportedly unhappy with the president for failing to back him for the gubernatorial position despite remaining a loyal supporter. Sonko and Waiguru are not said to be seeing eye-to-eye. Following the departure of the NYS from Kibra, this morning fleets of lorries visited the slum to ferry KIBERA youth rendered jobless by the closure of the NYS project to Nyayo Stadium with a promise of a five hundred shilling hand out and a green NYS tshirt, to go and cheer Uhuru and his guests at the Jamhuri Day festivities where a carefully packaged public relation video clip was played to show the great job NYS was doing in Kibra. Viewers would not forget the MC begging and appealing to the crowd to cheer up uhurus arrival. Residents in Kibra could be seen talking in small groups vowing to teach Okoth a lesson in 2017 for betraying his party and his party leader in a predominantly opposition area.
