Since I have been faced with some online attacks by my brother, Craig Lesmeister today I figured I would write a short post and let everyone know my past and current political positions and feelings. I would say up until about 2011 I was actually a very conservative person mostly in the area of economic policy.I even supported the economic policy of people like Ron Paul. I was raised in a conservative household and I had really never taken the time to get involved in politics and learn other views. One thing I have always been is a staunch supporter of LGBT and Equal Rights, after all I was no self loathing Log Cabin Republican. I found myself moving away from any of those views as the Tea Party took over and the GOP became more and more extreme to the point even Ronald Reagan wouldn’t recognize them anymore. Hell Reagan looks like a Democrat compared to the Republicans of today LOL. As they drove me further and further left, as they are with millions of other people, I started really researching the more progressive political positions and found they made a lot more since. I am hardly the first person in the world to change political views as the GOP is losing registered Republican’s daily. We are even seeing Republican politician switching parties. My brother would like to call it hypocracy , double standards or whatever other word you would like to use because I changed my views and am no longer on the side of extreme crazy. He may waste a lot of time digging up an old thread where I had a conservative view on something and I say so what, try and be vindictive. That’s what they do right ? What he fails to realize is it just solidifies our message of progressive change, change that matters for people and the throwing out of ideas and policies that are antiquated , have never worked and still don’t work. Make no doubt about it I am 100% Democrat, 100% Progressive and I have no plans to ever go back to the dark side of suppression and inequity. If anything they will continue to drive me farther left.
