Since it was said I couldnt say why I was voting for Shavar Jeffries, here goes some of the more compelling reasons: 1) he believes in an open and inclusive society and encourages diversity of thought and opinion; he doesnt propagate the stereotype that all persons of color think alike or that you are somehow less culturally credible because youve taken advantage of opportunities within diverse settings and communities, rather he respects individual expression and the unique potential in each soul; he believes in fairness and equality not just in thought but in action/deed. As a professional woman, Ive had many conversations with Newark politicians and public servants and sad to say the pejorative tone and condescension that Ive dealt with has been off-putting and actually pathetic. Rather Shavar Jeffries has always respected me as an individual and has sought occasions for empowering dialogue. #DrChris #IKnowWhatIStandFor
