Sir Robert has spoken ahead of the release of exam results tomorrow in support apprenticeships, which can offer an excellent next step for young people. Commenting, Sir Robert has said: “All young people should have the opportunity to get on in life and it is important to remember that Highers and university are not the only choices available. Hundreds of students in the North East will tomorrow receive their exam results and many of them could gain valuable skills and work experience through an apprenticeship. “I wish all students receiving their results tomorrow the very best of luck.” The biggest expansion in apprenticeships since the 1950s has seen 1.8m youngsters start schemes across the UK in the last four years. libdems.org.uk/bringing_back_apprenticeships
