Sister Susan John and I spent the weekend in Barre, Vermont. It was cold up there, but the welcome was warm. We had a book and media display at the Vermont Catholic Conference. Father Mitch Pacwa of EWTN fame was the keynote speaker. I forgot to bring a camera to catch some of the spectacular Vermont scenery. Most of the leaves were already gone from the trees. It was supposed to snow there yesterday, but it rained a sleet like mist instead. Today it was cold again and very windy. We had moved our books and CDs and DVD;[s to St. Monica Church, just a few yards away. The people there were very kind and appreciative of our mission. Sr. Irene Mary Martineau hails from that city. It was once famous for its granite quarries and stone cutters. Mrs. J. Nolin, mother of our Sister Laura, anotehr Vermont native, was a great help to us yesterday. We had an almost 3 day fast from the internet, tv and newspapers. We missed seeing the snow that pelted Boston today. Our Angels made sure the roads were all clean and dry. One of the mountains in New Hampshire with 3 ski slopes was covered with snow. We thank the good Sisters of Mercy for their warm hospitality. God bless them and all our people in Vermont.
