Sitting on the stairs, quietly watching down the street - TopicsExpress

Sitting on the stairs, quietly watching down the street overlooking my home in Berhampur. A handful of kids playing mohalla/gulli cricket on the roads. the very place I used to play with my friends. The stumps with stands have taken the place of jugaad stumps(we used to cut Amari baadi) which were made to stand with sand. Special mention for Sushant (now an Asst. Prof. at IIT, Chennai), Naresh, an economist at IMA and Faiz. Good branded bats taken the place of bats shaped from wood. But the same energy level could be found. and the most interesting thing the rule of the game has not changed from then. The ball has to be struck on ground. Anybody hitting up is OUT. Amid this, the ball forces its way to a house as a kid strikes hard, an woman comes out yelling, suddenly everyone disappeared before she could find who did it. The saga continues, then and now..... life goes on...
