Sleep would not come, so I thought I would put together a group of shots of the cottage where we stayed. These are completely unedited and include some dupes, more or less, in the interest of time. We stayed at The Weir Cottage in Whitchurch, Hampshire. It is a 17th century pink stucco, thatched roof home where the miller for the silk mill down the lane lived. It is on about 4 acres of land, bisected by a tributary of the River Test that flows all over the place in the town (silk mills abound, some of them still working). The first shot in the album in the cottage from the rear, then the view from the far end of the garden. The border on the left had mixed roses surrounded by poppies, campanula, lilies, etc. Then, a view of the stream from the cottage to the end of the lawn. The area had been hit pretty hard by rain and high winds 2 days before we arrived, so many of the blossoms were gone. I did my best. They also had chickens...on the other side of the stream. Thats all their land. Then, various garden views and one of the kitchen, one of the town center, and one of the town hall. If staying in an old English cottage is a dream (as it was for me) and you are over 510, forget it. I hit my head so many times that I have lumps everywhere. But, it was worth it. Now, if only I can figure out how to attach the album from Picasa. Wish me luck...Well, the album is too big by half. If anyone has any good ideas, please let me know. In the meantime, Ill try some more things.
