Sluggish Cognitive Tempo? Sounds like a fancy new catch-diagnosis for the politically incorrect label of slow learner. Perhaps pharmaceutical companies can hook as many kids as they have with ADHD. Keep on medicating. But the answer is in educating parents in early childhood (yes there is a double meaning in that sentence). Im not saying medication is never warranted. Im just saying that if we hadnt lost face to face communication and lap games with infants and imaginative play with our little ones, not nearly so many would need to be diagnosed. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no t.v. for children under two. Turn it off and turn on their minds. Enough said.
