Snow storm update - Weve had two brief power outages and a few small limbs of the mature backyard pine have broken off, tumbling into the backyard. The drifts in the backyard are mounting, ever higher. My clean backyard deck is now two feet deep in snow. A flock of Cedar Waxwings stopped by briefly seeking shelter in the mature pine, but soon decided the wind was too much for them. Meanwhile, the Mourning Doves who all face forward headlong into the howling wind with their sleek bodies streamlined in an aerodynamic posture remain tightly attached to the pine boughs. This has been their survival strategy all winter long. I have such an admiration for those magnificent birds. I am going to have to wait and take a snow measurement in a few hours because the wind is so bad a measurement would be highly inaccurate and misleading. Lets break this record!
