So I really had my horizons expanded on bits and their uses at a recent bit clinic by Jim and Elaine Hyde - most of what I thought I knew was very incorrect! They recommended a chain mouthpiece gag bit as a good go to bit, and despite my initial views that it seemed harsh, I tried one as a combination bit on my Paint and she LOVES it! Prior to this she was ridden in an argentine snaffle which she also went well in but definitely had less feel and didnt sit as well. The chain mouthpiece conforms beautifully to her mouth instead of putting unnecessary pressure on the bars and the gag action gives them a LOT of notice and not so sharp of a signal! So my question is - what is your favorite bit(s) and why? Do you have a go to youve had great success in? Do you have an arsenal of bits for each new horse to try? Include pictures! I want to try SO many bits now after the clinic to really see what my horses like best!
