So.... I spent an hour with the senator who wants to tax some gaming machines on Guam... and came away with mixed feelings. The senator is a good politician to be sure, but some points he made are ones I share... the main one being that Guam is totally inconsistent with its approach to games of chance. We are taxing OTHER gaming machines.... why would the move to tax other machines increase the amount of gambling on the island, or open a floodgate to off-island gaming interests? Got to sort through laws and regulations and mull over it...
