So, I wrote this for the Whats All This Then? page on my website... • • • • • Keith Klein has been working professionally as an artist for 28 years. In that time his talent has touched so many different areas of the marketplace that youve probably seen his work already and just didnt know it. This company portfolio merely skims the surface of his nearly three-decades-long career but it also introduces a new angle to Keiths work: Original content production. In 1994, Keith came up with an idea for a serialized animated adventure show called, Surfur Gurl, which he planned to sell to MTVs Liquid Television. Unfortunately, technology wasnt as fast back then as it is today, and it ended up taking close to two years to complete the pilot. By then, MTV had cancelled Liquid Television, so Surfur Gurl got shelved. But he never gave up on the idea. A few years ago, Keith dropped everything he was doing in his home town of Chicago, and moved to Hollywood, where he has reestablished himself as an illustrator, mostly focusing on character design and childrens book illustration, while he searches for the ideal place to finance and distribute his animated series. A twenty-year long quest that is now closer than ever to realization. His goal is to use Surfur Gurl as the starting point to launch a new studio, in the vein of Hanna-Barbera, and pull together a team of talented and dedicated writers and animators, to create its own original content... beginning first with animation and then moving into live action... while still providing original character design and illustration work to outside entities.
