So Viola Davis was nominated for a SAG award and Kerry Washington was not: Is this a race issue or are both actors performance SAG award worthy? ….MY THOUGHTS ***CLEARS THROAT*** Prepares for the haters, they are always lurking** I love Kerry Washington and Viola Davis. In terms of raw acting, hands down, and without hesitation when I consider Season 4…Viola Davis character has far been the more overarching. However, Davis aside, how does Washington compare to the others? I do not watch them, so I cannot comment. Neither am I aware of the criterion for nomination. I will say this: I LIKE H2GAWM. I LOVE SCANDAL. That said, Viola Davis gives Emmy-worthy performances with, in my opinion, somewhat interesting ensemble of supporting cast. The Scandal ensemble is impressive with very memorable supporting cast (Bitsy, Leo, Billy Chambers, Sally Langstan, James,Papa Pope, Mama Pope, etc.) The lead character does a good job bringing them altogether. Performance wise…I see the show as an ensemble, however. In fairness, we comparing Viola Davis character Pilot Season, to Kerry Washington Season 4. Is this fair comparison? One might argue that Kerry was the core of the show in Season 1 with the other characters organically evolving in order to make the show more interesting as each season moved forward. Are we likely to see the same evolution in Annalease Keating? It is my opinion that when it is all said and done, Viola Davis will snatch an Emmy come nomination season. No other actress has been as raw and commanding as she. That said..would there even BE a Viola Davis without a Kerry Washington in prime time television? Food for thought. What are yours?
