So Why did I start the Emedelo project.. Emedelo was born from a desire to put a spin on modern experimental electronic and ambient music, ranging from glitch music all the way to vaporwave, but to do so with a more abstract and unpredictable element of surprise and noise. Less about the pre-existing aesthetic, more about the sound itself. What would this project sound like? In my mind it needed to be equal parts noise, musique concrete, and ambient sample-warping. A healthy dose of discomfort with every track. With the first album, Creation, I thought of every track as a sort of wonky piece of a film score, soundtracking atmospheric and nightmarish landscapes. As the project progressed, however, I become more interested in how to incorporate beatwork into the sound, and the resulting experiments with percussion make up the bulk of Destruction. Less about the atmosphere, more about the sound itself. I wanted to bring repetition into the mix, something that hadnt really existed on Creation. Accordingly, Katano was the first release where I got more hands on with the arrangement process, leaving things less to chance and the generative software and patches I was using. It was on this EP that I started using this software not as the final point in the compositional process, but as merely a jumping off point, something to make the sounds I was working with more interesting. The interest in percussion and repetition developed further on the Collapse EP, which contained in my mind the best work from the project so far. The whole point of the project was to sound broken, destroyed, which I think I really achieved with Destruction and even with Collapse to a certain extent. This is one of the reasons that Im putting the project on hold indefinitely, the other being that some of the software I use for the Emedelo project is quite old and is keeping me from updating my OS. Someday I may find a method of utilizing the old software that works for me, but for now, Its time to move forward. Anyway, hope you enjoy the sounds!
