So against my better judgement, I decided to attend the Bill Cosby - TopicsExpress

So against my better judgement, I decided to attend the Bill Cosby show in Hamilton, Ontario on January 9th. Why? Because I wanted to see what would happen. And happen it did. While waiting outside for the doors to open, some guy I was talking to actually managed to get an autograph from Bill Cosby by handing an 8x10 to some guy who was apparently connected to Cosby, who then ran it backstage to get it signed, and then brought it back. One of only three people who had managed to get that arranged beforehand. Weird. Then the doors opened and we all went inside. Several times before the show started, there was an announcement warning that there might be a disruption during the show by protesters. About ten minutes into Cosbys show, a whole bunch of audience members, mostly women, stood up, holding signs, blowing whistles, proceeded to yell, We believe the women! We believe the women! Then Cosby, motioning with his hands, said Stop ... stop ... let them ... let them ... let them ... stop ... (motioning the audience and security not to do anything) which was followed by more whistling and yelling by the women, then by applause by the audience (they were applauding Cosbys attempt to keep peace and/or the fact that the protesters were being escorted out by security), followed by Cosby saying something I couldnt hear, followed by a few men yelling (unintelligible) piece of shit! (unintelligible) piece of shit! followed by Cosby saying Stop ... no, no ... no, dont do this ... thats alright ... stop ... stop ... um ... A man shouted again rapist piece of shit! followed by a woman yelling Our product is steel, our strength is people, (referring to the city of Hamilton with its main export being steel) followed by Cosby saying Stop ... stop ... (meaning dont stop the protesters from protesting) etc. Then Cosby went back into his bit while the protesters were being escorted out by security, and the show went on for another hour and half without interruption. I brought my camera hoping to capture all this, but they made me check it at the coat check, however, I was able to record the entire show, protests and all, with my phone, which I kept hidden between my legs for the duration. I also managed to snap a few quick pics with my phone before the show, of the massive police and security presence, and the signs warning that no photography or recording was allowed. cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/news/bill-cosby-s-hamilton-show-disrupted-by-protesters-1.2896003
