So as we are driving back from dinner and I hear the classic Steve Miller tune “The Joker”. The line comes on “Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right. Here I am. Stuck in the middle with you.” All I asked is they be back by 6:00. Started at 4:30. Plenty of time. So we have 6 guys sprinting for the vans at 6:00 and we have 3 more roll in a few minutes late. Then we wonder why we lost to Suffolk 3-2 today. Ahahahaha. I wonder why huh boys? Won’t say they aren’t a great group of kids but they really need to figure it out as players and what it takes to move up the ladder. Personal accountability. Do these guys understand this? Coach Huff and I can only do so much. We still have not been able to dress a full line up this season. Everyone knows they are going to dress and maybe I have been too fair in allowing everyone to get regular ice time. It’s been tough to not have 20 guys but you think guys would relish the opportunity to get the extra ice. I truly thought the boys would want to listen to what we were telling them about what it takes. However we continue to be on a rollercoaster. These guys need to figure it out!!! They want to go to the next level it takes consistent play at very high level. Today was one of those big downward dips. We stunk up the joint. Can’t say anything different. We made a few plays but we didn’t compete. We didn’t do the little things to be successful. We were stupidly undisciplined and took 2 penalties late in the game which eventually cost us when we lost 3-2 with under 2 minutes to play on a PPG. We would have had a 5 minute major PP early in the game but 2 guys take stupid penalties and we end up down 4 on 3. They score on their PP to go up 1-0 and we never set up on our 3 minutes of PP. 30 seconds left in the 1st period(half) and we have a faceoff in their end. We get a shot blocked at the blue line. Turn it over twice. Get the puck 8” from our blue line, over handle it and fail to get it out and they score on a shot that was moving about 3 MPH from the point to go up 2-0 as time expired. We had 1 good shift and tied it 2-2. We shot wide a bunch. We lost puck battles. We didn’t go the net hard. We stunk on the PP. We were undisciplined. Other than that we were stellar. So now we have to play the Bruins and the Blades. Could be a long flight home if the boys don’t figure it out.
