(...) So dark matter, dark energy and inflation are the pillars of the Standard Model of cosmology. And one of the interesting things about these important features of the Standard Model of cosmology is that they all depend upon physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. So supporting dark matter, dark energy and inflation is (supporting) unknown physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. In fact the only real observational evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model comes from cosmology; comes from -in fact- a field called precision cosmology. Twenty years ago it was impossible to use the words precision and cosmology in a grammatically correct sentence with an even number of negatives, but in the past twenty years there’s been a remarkable progress on observational cosmology. And this precision has pointed to physics beyond the Standard Model. (...) Excellent lectures by Rocky Kolb in CERN concerning dark matter, dark energy and inflation. The lectures are meant to be from cosmologists communicating their knowledge to an audience consisting of elementary particle physics researchers and trying to contribute in the ever growing synergistic collaboration between the two -at first glace distant, at least with respect to the investigated scales, but at a closer look strongly correlated- fields. Prof. Kolb keeps it quite simple and in my opinion the lectures are reasonably easy to follow for natural scientists of any field and to a great extent also by people that have an OK background only on high school physics. Heres the link for the first lecture and the link for the second and third lectures can be found below as a comment. https://youtube/watch?v=-VmXZn702v0
