So here are our three off to college this week. Adrien (riding Twister), Hanna (riding Gatsby, and she has the whistle in her mouth as she was the drill team lead) and Sara, (riding Gotti). Adrien is riding Twister, the beautiful mare PMU adopted quite a few years ago now by our director of GG Christine. Adrien put in many, many, volunteer hours and not everyone gets to ride this mare so her riding Twister was a testament to her abilities and dedication to the rescue. Hanna is on Gatsby, her new found love. Gatsby only came to us a few months ago from the streets of New York City where he fulfilled his duties as a carriage and we were rewarded his retirement. We are the lucky ones to get him. We LOVE getting the NYC horses. Hanna is the one we thank for getting him under saddle. She put many, many hours into him in only one month and felt confident enough in his abilities for us to use him in the performance. Hanna has also been on many of our other horses (and mules) getting them used to being under saddle and has done a great job this summer. Hanna is also one of the longest term volunteers so her leaving for college is especially bittersweet for us. She LOVES these horses and we will surely miss her dedication to them. However, she has chosen veterinary medicine as her future so while we will miss her, her goals and success will eventually come back to everyone with the knowledge she already has of these large and beautiful horses. Sara joined us a few months ago, here she is on Gotti telling the crowd where that home run is going, well, ok...she is getting ready to kick off the routine but Sara has also put hundreds of hours into our green horses this summer. She never said no to riding any of them. We wont say good bye, we only wish them the best of luck and will welcome them all back on their breaks and then again next summer. Thank you ladies.
