So hubby finally agreed to getting some chickens ( and bee hives but thats another story) but theres a small catch, he said I can only get day old chicks, make them friendly and part of the family from day dot, Im a little bit nervous as this will be my first time ever having chickens ( I remember grandad having some but that was when I was a tot) Ive explained the chances of getting roosters and hes prepared to deal with this. Im have the basic knowledge and am hoping to buy a little chick raising kit with heat bulb, crumble, woods chips, drinking thingy etc. a couple of questions how old are they when they can move into the outside coop? (this will give him a time bracket to build the coop in) and any other helpful tips or reputable places in West Auckland area that can help me get started would be a great help, thank you .
