So lets discuss some speaking points from this weekends canvassing - TopicsExpress

So lets discuss some speaking points from this weekends canvassing in the borough and campaigning with the Democratic candidates. If a person realizes you are spending more than you can afford. You should stop spending. Easier said than done. Something that we all from time to time do is over spend on a item. We say to ourselves that we will make it up somewhere else in our budget. But to acknowledge that you are overspending and do nothing about it is a problem. We all know what happens then. Its not at all different with the Municipal Budget for North Arlington. No one wants to cut services to the community. This discussion is not about hurting anyone. But all the services provided should be evaluated yearly and the ones that bring benefit to the community should be enhanced and supported. Those that do not and that are not revenue neutral or outdated, should be evaluated seriously and in a bi-partisan fashion to see if they continue to make sense. Every $$$ dollar does count and if we are to make the most of them. All things should be on the table for evaluation. Seems that is what citizens are saying and want. Concerning the thought of a Redevelopment Authority. That was down once in this town. Nothing Bi-partisan about it an they brought us ENCAP. See the pictures below. We certainly should of learned our lesson from that. Perhaps another idea would be to hire a Redevelopment specialist that could work and canvass for an investment group to help redevelop the parcels in the Meadowlands. A person or persons experts in that field that can work with the Mayor and Council. People trained in the field of Re-Development. Not a politically appointed board like last time. North Arlington needs to work with the new business owners of the properties in the Meadowlands sooner than later. Team Massa has a plan and a vision for North Arlington.
