So many artists approach me everyday for career advice and ask to - TopicsExpress

So many artists approach me everyday for career advice and ask to pick my brain but have the thought in their head that applying and adding more makeup to their clients or their kit will help them get to the next level. They think learning to layer more makeup on the face or kardashian contour will get them noticed or that there is some magic in banana powder. I tell them the power is in knowing the fundamentals of our art. I had an opportunity before The Makeup Show NYC to spend a lot of time with amazing makeup artist Alice Lane and discuss the state of things while developing her keynote. It was so eye opening to sit with an artist I had never met and see we shared so many view points. Alice spoke to me about the importance of museums and looking at the work of leading and classic visual artists. I could not agree more. As I look at portfolios and artists approach me about fashion week I can not help but wonder why makeup artists so often ignore the fundamentals of art in moving forward. Michael DeVellis and The Powder Group and I are excited to introduce an all new program designed to put art back in makeup artistry. The Creative Exploration Conference is designed To push you out of your comfort zone and put you in touch with the creativity inside you. You will learn to trust your instinct, examine different mediums and mind sets and find confidence in your own makeup design, application and artistry career. The Creative Exploration Conference is limited to thirty artists and will take place beginning October 6th. If you would like to be one of the exclusive group that takes this journey with Michael and I email Lauren@thepowdergroup or check out the powder group for more info. Space is limited.
