So many things are wrong with this news story that I hesitate to even post it. First, the blurb Bubonic Plague is Back is grossly inaccurate. Bubonic plague has existed in the US for hundreds of years. Its endemic in the deserts of the Southwestern US. About every 20 years, you hear a report of someone dying from it. Second, the Colorado man had pneumonic plague, which is NOT bubonic plague technically. Its a separate strain. Third, there is no vaccine for plague because penicillin kills it. Plague wiped out 1/3 of the population of Europe because they didnt have antibiotics. Fourth, this story was on Fox News which automatically disqualifies the story as accurate. Fifth, how do I know this? Because I studied medieval history, and plague is one of the few cool things medieval historians talk about.
