So my day starts with a 6:05 flight out if Buffalo to Detroit, a VERY long 38 minute flight. Theres an unattended minor whos 19, hes a highly functioning mentally handicap passenger, as he himself told the gate attendants. He sitting one row in front and to the right of me. I have a female flight attendant who sits next to me and is flying to Detroit to start her day as well. The young man is seated next to a 2-3 yo child who is flying with a very large Indian family that speak very little English. The attendants are aware that hes flying for the first time and that he may be challenged by the experience. He starts to chat up the baby and mom but theres little dialogue as hes asking question like are you from India and what not. So we take off and hes hooting and hollaring with joy as he says it feels like a roller coaster...that lasted for roughly a minute and a half as he undid his belt and climbed over the other passengers and I to the aisle...we werent much more than 4-5k feet at that point. Hes confused, his head hurts and he has to use the bathroom. The attendant comes running g up the aisle and re-seats him assuring him its normal and that he can use the bathroom in just a few minutes. Well, thats whe he started throwing up more than ANY human ever should...the attendant next to me starts to cover her ears and eyes , shes not going to get through this easily. That poor kid heaved his TOES up for a SOLID 20 minutes...the attenedant and I tried talking through the whole episode. I asked her how she handles that when shes working and she simply said she doesnt and hopes that another attendant can. She aslo said she was shocked that once one person starts it can have a chain reaction effect...thankfully today it didnt.
