So now that its been a few days since Animate! Miami, and a few - TopicsExpress

So now that its been a few days since Animate! Miami, and a few shots of my new She-Ra costume have emerged, I thought it was time to sit and talk about it a bit. Though it is #thorwbackthursday so I cant really talk about She-Ra 2.0, without mentioning the first iteration! I originally made a She-Ra costume last year for Miami Hurricon 2013. It was a lot of firsts with that costume, and I have always been glad that I made it. It was my first time working with Worbla, first time doing any sort of minor armor or prop work, and also first time wearing anything that short to a convention. Granted my She-Ra is hardly a revealing costume by most standards, but it was still like way out of my comfort zone. I totally fell in love with She-Ra though, and as soon as I took the costume off, I knew I could make it even better. The She-Ra 2.0 that I debuted this weekend has been on my mind for well over a year. Design after design. I knew one thing from the get go though, white leather (or pleather in this case). That was the look I wanted. So each design was based around the leather. Some designs were more Amazonian, some were more Valkyrie like. She became a mix of all the other warrior princesses that carried her spirit. Wonder Woman, Xena, Lady Sif, Valkyrie. The main inspiration though was from artist Stjepan Šejićs designs for She-Ra. He really understood my vision for her, so a lot of his details were carried through in this costume. In the end, I was really pleased with the design of the costume, and with how well it translated in real life. Except for the boots, the costume was cool to wear, and didnt cause much strain on me physically. She held up long wear with little tear. And honestly was sturdier than I had expected. She got me my first major convention award and I honestly could not be happier. Animate! Miami was a complete and total blast to attend! I got to see some of my favorite people, and meet a whole bunch of new wackos! Fun Fact: The white skirt under 2.0s strap skirt is the skirt from the original costume! :D
