So okay, yesterday I went out for a new coffeepot, since my old one quit. I had a birthday gift card for Home Goods, which was my main goal. Im down to two clawed bath towels and my sheets and comforters have had it; I love eating in bed. The closest big stores are in Riverhead, only about 10-15 minutes away. I havent been shopping in over a year. Need overcame reticence. I found a couple of bath towels, washcloths, and a bath rug. A cool carved sign that says eat for the kitchen. A mug (found a chip when I got home.) A cool black and white zigzag shower curtain, plus a clear liner, but best of all, the Marimekko comforter Id been eyeballing at the NY store for about two-thirds the *sale* price- the only one in stock, and the right size! PLUS, a stainless 18/10 matte finish flatware set at a reasonable price thats as close to my original Solingen, bought in Germany in 1960, as I could wish for! Yowzers!. Some snacks, that were stale. An overpriced cat scratcher, which the cats are deconstructing with their teeth instead of scratching. Today they were sleeping on it. No coffeepot. On to the new super Walmart., but really hurting, so sat in the Subways (I hate this fast food chain, but was starving and needed coffee) with a mini-pizza and big coffee to wash down Ibuprofen, too. Huge selection of bath stuff, sheets, pet supplies, comforter sets and more: everything I was looking for and then some, including a close ladies room. By then though, I was wiped and almost out of money, so I got some towels and accessories, sheets, a comforter set: looked at rugs- I need a new one for the living room but need something washable- and finally got to kitchenwares. I wanted a French Press, but didnt like the brand of the only one in stock. That means a trip to Williams-Sonoma, but thats okay, because my cereal/soup bowls are depleted and their whiteware is open stock. There were shelf after shelf of amazing coffeepots. One immediately caught my eye: a white Rival 12-cupper for $8. and change! You put the coffee in the filter inside a filter basket, water in the reservoir, the carafe underneath, press the button on the side, and Voila! It makes however much coffee you want, then keeps it hot. Ive had two Rival grinders (wedding or shower gifts) for 57 years, and they still work great. I made coffee this morning in the new pot, and it was excellent! I was very happy to get home: couldnt wait to lie down, but removed Bittys lost baby first, then fed the cats, dragged all my shopping upstairs and prodded myself into my nightshirt, took my pills, staggered back downstairs and crashed. Here are a couple pictures of the shopping trip purchases:
