So so true. And before you go saying that they took it from rich people who have more than they need consider this: Irina and I paid an effective tax rate between federal, state, Medicare, and social security taxes of 27% of our income last year, and we are very far from rich. (note that those arent even all the ways the government gets tax money out of you, like property taxes, sales tax, gas taxes, etc.). So who are they really taking money from? Working middle class citizens. It drives me absolutely bonkers to think that ANYONE out there feels the government owes them anything. What they are really feeling is that you and I owe them something. So next time you want to complain to me about the steak or imported cheese you bought with your food stamps, or how rude the employee at the grocery store was, forgive me if Im not real patient with you. I already paid for it for you, after all.
